Privacy, in plain words

Short version: your subscription info stays on your phone, RenewPal doesn't have a server that sees it, and there's nothing here to sell.

The whole thing in five lines

I never ask for your bank login.
Your data lives on your phone (and your own iCloud, if you switch that on).
No ads, no trackers, no analytics watching you.
I don't sell or share anything — I never receive it in the first place.
Delete the app and it's gone.

Who's "I"

RenewPal is a small, independent iPhone app for tracking subscriptions. When I say "I" or "we" on this page, that's the same small team behind it. This covers the iOS app only.

What I collect

From a server point of view — nothing. I don't run analytics, I don't have an account system, and I don't get a copy of your subscriptions. Everything you put in the app stays in the app, on your device.

That means no name, no email, no location, no advertising ID, no usage tracking. Not "collected but anonymized" — just not collected.

What's on your phone

The app saves a few things locally so it can do its job:

Your subscriptions — names, amounts, currencies, billing dates, notes, categories.
Price history — when you change a price, it keeps the old one so you can see the trend. This is only ever your edits; the app doesn't check prices online.
Your settings — home currency, reminder timing, whether app lock is on.

You can delete any of it any time, and deleting the app wipes it (unless you're using iCloud sync — see below).

iCloud sync

This is off unless you turn it on. When it's on, your subscriptions sync through your own iCloud account so they show up on your other Apple devices. It goes to Apple, under your Apple ID — not to me. I can't see inside your private iCloud. Apple's the one handling it, under their privacy policy.

Importing (the Beta thing)

To save you typing, you can import from a CSV, a screenshot, or a bank-statement PDF. A few things worth knowing:

It all happens on your phone — the file isn't uploaded anywhere.
Nothing gets added automatically. You see everything it found and tick what's right before it saves.
Statements are read for text only. No bank login is ever involved — you're just handing it a file you already have.
It doesn't keep the file afterwards.

Reminders

If you turn on reminders, your phone schedules them and your phone delivers them. There's no push server on my end — nothing about your renewals leaves the device. You can switch them off in the app or in iOS Settings whenever.

Paying for it

The unlock is a one-time $10.99 purchase through Apple — not a subscription, and no free trial. Apple handles the payment; I just get a yes/no receipt that says it was bought. I never see your card details.

The only outside connections

Two, both Apple's: iCloud if you enable sync, and the App Store for the purchase. On top of that, the app grabs the day's currency exchange rates so it can convert amounts — that request carries no personal info and nothing about your subscriptions, it just asks "what are today's rates." If you tap a subscription's website link, that opens your browser and is between you and that site.

You're in charge

Edit or delete any subscription.
Clear your import history in Settings.
Export everything to a CSV you keep.
Turn iCloud sync and app lock on or off whenever.
Delete the app to clear local data.

One honest note: "Mark as cancelled" only updates your own list. It doesn't contact the company or cancel anything for you.

Kids

This isn't aimed at children under 13. Since I don't collect personal info from anyone, there's nothing to knowingly collect from kids either. If you think a child's info somehow reached me, let me know and I'll sort it out.

If this changes

If I update this policy I'll change the date up top, and if it's a meaningful change I'll flag it in the app first. Using the app after an update means you're okay with the new version.

Terms, quickly

The app is licensed, not sold — use it on your Apple devices under the normal App Store terms. The unlock is tied to your Apple ID.

It's a budgeting helper, not financial advice. Totals and currency conversions are estimates and can be off — always trust your actual statement over the app. It's provided as-is, and to the extent the law allows, I'm not liable for indirect or knock-on damages from using it. Please don't try to reverse-engineer or redistribute it in ways the law doesn't allow.
